Rescue . Rehabilitate . Rehome. Repeat.

Us, in a nutshell.

We are Slaughterhouse Survivors (SHS) Animal Rescue - a nonprofit organization based in Harbin, China focused on rescuing and rehabilitating as many animals as possible from situations of neglect, abandonment, abuse and the horrors of the Black Market dog meat trade.

Alongside countless volunteers, donators, veterinary professionals, and an essential network of Chinese locals, we’re currently caring for 1300+ animals. With us, they receive medical care and the love they need until we can hopefully find them the forever homes they deserve.

It’s hard work, but every tail wag makes the blood, sweat, sh*t and tears worth every minute of it.

Ways you can help

Volunteer

Our team welcomes 'anyone crazy enough to fly over and spend time with us'. We can always use extra hands at the SafeHouse and clinics as well as Flight Volunteers to accompany animals in their “Freedom Flight” home.

Shelters everywhere are overcrowded, so if coming to China isn’t possible, even starting within your own community, helping your local rescues is a great way to contribute to the cause. One dog at a time, anywhere in the world.

Donate

With thousands of animals in our care, it’s no secret we have huge overheads, so every donation helps keep the animals treated and cared for. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without the support of others & we truly appreciate all of it!

Each animal you see in our care, or living their best life now in their forever homes, is safe and loved now because of generous people like you.

Adopt

The rescue of one animal won’t change the world, but to that animal, it makes all the difference. Re-homing plays a vital role in all this as we have hundreds of animals ready for their forever home. When you adopt, you’re actually saving more than one life as you’re also helping us make space for another animal in need!

CAUTION: you may wind up with a life full of unconditional love.
